Game
Notes: "Coughlin downplayed his return
to Jacksonville to face his old team, but you could see him smiling with the recognition
he received. Those smiles disappeared as the game wore on. The defense wasn't
half bad considering how quickly they had to get back on the field, but the offense
couldn't do anything against the Jaguars defensive unit. It looked like Eli Manning
was trying to get rid of the ball really fast to take the heat off his offensive
line, but he wasn't at all effective in doing that. He looked like a second string
quarterback out there, and if he didn't have the Manning name, and was playing
for the NY Giants who drafted him as the godsend of all quarterbacks, he might
not have lasted the full game."
Game Notes:
"Tom
Coughlin should have picked a better day to go home. He should have picked a day
when his quarterback had no trouble throwing a nice easy pass to one of his 'many
weapons'. Eli Manning had to step up this game and he flat out didn't. Despite
many offensive miscues the Giants still could have won this game. They were down
only 16-10 going into the fourth quarter, but couldn't break out of whatever doldrums
they seemed to be playing under. The only good news is that there are only
six games left to this season. The Giants did lose another step, but are still
tied in first place in the NFC East, holding the tiebreaker over the Dallas Cowboys
who are breathing down their neck. Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora are expected
to be back, and the Eagles will be playing without their starting quarterback
for the rest of the season. It could have been better, but this is what we've
got." Early
