Giants
(6-4) vs Denver (6-4) On Sunday, Denver
was hit with its fourth loss in a row. They went down to the San
Diego Chargers 32-3 giving up their division lead and awarding
the Chargers with their fifth consecutive win.
The Giants won their game against the Falcons in the first overtime
drive 34-31. Guessing right on the OT coin toss might have been
the best thing that happened for them, because neither teams'
defense was holding up very well at that point. Denver
Broncos. What can you say
about a team that starts the season off with a big winning streak
and then goes on to lose four straight? You could say they were
either the Giants or the Broncos who both now have identical 6-4
records. In the Broncos case, they won the first six and they
are trying to break their losing habit like the Giants did last
Sunday. After last game featured numerous penalties and infighting,
first year head Coach Josh McDaniels said that his emotional team
needs to keep its poise. Denver
Offense. Quarterback Kyle
Orton practiced on Tuesday and looks to get the start against
the Giants. Despite nursing a sprained ankle, he came in the game
on Sunday after Chris Simms was pulled by his edgy head coach
when things did not start out all that well. Wide receiver Brandon
Marshall was a Pro Bowl starter in 2008 and he leads the team
with 52 receptions for 628 yards and 6 touchdowns. Running back
Knowshon Moreno had a costly fumble on Sunday that led to a shoving
match with an irritated teammate, but he did average 8 yards a
carry on his 10 attempts. Unfortunately, being behind too far
in points they had to work more with an aerial attack. Overall
the Broncos have averaged less than 10 points per game in the
last four losses. Denver's
Defense. They were really
tough against the run in that six game win streak, but have dropped
off sharply in the four losses. Getting worse from game to game,
they went from allowing an average 80 yards per game to 125, 173,
174 and then finally 203 yards last Sunday. San Diego was able
to score against them on 7 of their 10 drives. Former Eagles safety
Brian Dawkins was signed as a free agent in the offseason and
he has certainly lifted the team's defense. They are ranked 3rd
against the pass. Dawkins left last game in the second quarter
with a neck injury and did not return but is hopeful to be able
to play Thursday night against the Giants, a team he is very familiar
with. Giants
Offense. Eli Manning has
been real sharp the last two games, and he's connecting with all
his receivers now, not just Steve Smith. In fact last game Mario
Manningham with six catches and Kevin Boss and Hakeem Nicks with
five each, all caught more than Steve Smith who had four. The
Giants running game needs to improve and now Ahmad Bradshaw has
a new injury, a sprained left ankle to go along with a his right
foot problem. Expect to see more of Danny Ware, who has been effective
when used. Giants
Defense. They let the Falcons
catch up in the second half on Sunday allowing three touchdowns
and a field goal in just four possessions. They've been giving
up a lot of points and have allowed teams to be successful in
last minute drives. They haven’t been able to get enough pressure
on opposing quarterbacks and are ranked last in red-zone defense.
Hopefully cornerback Aaron Ross can help them improve in his second
game back from his hamstring injury. Giant
Concerns. The Giants didn't
have Antonio Pierce on the field on Sunday and his presence was
surely missed by the defense. This week running back Ahmad Bradshaw
is probably out. Lawrence Tynes has missed four times this season
from inside 40 yards. Be concerned. NFC
East. On Thanksgiving
day the 4:15PM game will be the (3-7) Raiders playing at (7-3)
Dallas. On Sunday, the (3-7) Redskins play at (6-4) Philadelphia.
The Giants, Cowboys and Eagles are favored to win their games. From
thirty two to sixteen to nine to seven to five to four to three
to two. The
Colts in the AFC and the Saints in the NFC continued their wining
streaks and now have 10-0 records. The Colts will travel to play
against the (5-5) Texans on Sunday at 1:00PM. The Saints have
a Monday night game and will be challenged by the (7-3) Patriots
in New Orleans.

Eli Manning had a career day passing last Sunday, throwing for
384 yards and three touchdowns. Giants
Michael Boley was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after
last game. Giants will
play in their first Thanksgiving Day game since Nov. 26, 1992. They
lost to the Cowboys in Dallas, 30-3. Broncos
haven't scored an offensive touchdown in their last two home games. Denver
Broncos were 3 1/2 games ahead of the Chargers in the AFC West. Denver
Broncos in the first six games outscored their opponents 76-10
after halftime. Denver
Broncos in the last four games have been outscored 77-17 in the
second half.
