"I wasn't hoping for too much today. Boy was I surprised! All the fans who showed up at MetLife Stadium were rewarded by the end of the day. The Giants did not look all that good in the first half, but the defense was keeping us in the game. Thanks to their two interceptions the score was 14-7. Then, right near the end of the half with time running out, Eli Manning took two sacks in a row.
That's when Chicago took a time out with 17 seconds left. It really cost them, because with some great running, Saquon Barkley picked up 22 yards. Then Manning hit Ellison for 9 yards, and a first down at the Chicago 39 yard line. Aldrick Rosas came in and kicked a 57 yard field goal to make the score 14-10.
Even though the Giants were trailing, it looked like they could get things done. They got the ball first to lead off the second half, and after Barkley ran 14 yards for a first down, Manning threw him a pass that got three yards. Barkley then ran the ball for another first down. Chicago must have had everyone watching Barkley now, and the Giants fooled them by having Manning flip the ball to Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham looked for an open receiver and found Russell Shepard just waiting near the endzone for his 49-yard touchdown toss.
The Giants were up 17-14 and after our defense held the Bears to a three-and-out, Manning worked a nice long drive down to the one yard line. After three plays, they were still at the one, and Pat Shurmur had them go for it on fourth down. I can't tell you how excited I was when Manning threw a touchdown pass to Beckham to give the Giants a nice 24-14 lead.
That held into the fourth quarter when the Bears kicked a field goal. The Giants didn't get anywhere on their next drive, but they used so much time that there was just two and a half minutes left in the game when the punted ball was downed at the Chicago 2-yard line. When the Bears fumbled the ball on their first play, I thought the game was over. Then when the Giants kicked a field goal, I thought the game was really over. The Giants up by ten points and there was less than two minutes left on the clock. Chicago had already used up two of its timeouts.
Of course the Bears took less than 20 seconds to get from their 25-yard line to the Giants eight, using no timeouts, and had a first-and-goal. The only thing that made me feel good at that point was that the Giants held them to a field goal. The onside kick was of course, recovered by the Bears, and they now had good field position at midfield.
The Bears had to overcome a 4th-and-3, and they did so with a 23-yard pass that had them at the Giants 9-yard line with 11 seconds to play. After two incompletions, B.W. Webb was called for pass interference, giving Chicago a 1st-and-goal at the 1-yard line with three seconds left.
The Giants called a timeout to regroup, but it didn't help when they ran a trick play with one of their wide receivers throwing a touchdown pass to tie the game at 27-27.
The overtime period started with the Giants getting the ball first, and Rosas kicked a 44 yard field goal.
I would have liked a touchdown instead, as that would have won the game. Once again the Bears had to overcome a fourth down, and they did, but the next time their luck ran out, and the game was over for real! So now the Giants have won their last two home games, and that matches what they did all last year. I'm hoping they'll win the next two, playing against the Titans and Cowboys as well. I won't even mind if they start things off with a win as the traveling team in Washington next week with the Redskins."

"There was some intrigue today as the Giants made Kyle Lauletta active for first time this season over previous backup quarterback Alex Tanney. With the Giants struggling on offense in the first half, Eli Manning was 7 of 17 for 73 yards and 1 interception, some thought Lauletta might show up in the second. As it was, Lauletta did not see any action on the field today. Manning's numbers improved over the second half, as he kept the offense on the move. With the help of Odell Beckham Jr.,throwing and catching touchdowns, and Aldrick Rosas kicking, the Giants came from behind to have a ten point lead.
Meanwhile, the defense had to deal with Bears quarterback Chase Daniel passing on almost every play. They kept the pressure on Daniel up until the fourth quarter. That's when the Bears, despite fumbling the ball back to the Giants, managed to get two field goals and one touchdown to tie up the game. As to that, cornerback B.W. Webb had a pass interference penalty called on him with three seconds remaining in regulation. It sure looked like the ball sailed too high to be catchable, and the ruling put the Bears at the Giants 1-yard line instead of the nine for their last shot. The Bears made good on it to tie up the game and send it into overtime.
This time the Giants played well on both sides of the ball. The offense got the field goal they needed, and the defense had Daniel fumbling the ball a few times, and taking a sack before his last incomplete pass. The Giants exceeded their expectations by beating the Chicago Bears. No one thought they'd be getting their fourth win of the season. Next up is a game with the Redskins, and the Giants can watch them play tomorrow night in Philadelphia."
