lose to Tampa Bay 25-23. Eli Manning was 30 of 49 for 288 yards with 2 TDs,
and ran 3 times for 22 yards and 1TD. Wayne Gallman rushed for 42 yards on
11 carries, and caught 2 passes for 8 yards and 1 TD. Shane Vereen rushed for
14 yards on 5 carries, and caught 1 pass for 11 yards. Paul Perkins rushed
for 13 yards on 9 carries, and caught 1 pass for 6 yards. Odell Beckham Jr.
caught 7 passes for 90 yards. Evan Engram caught 6 passes for 62 yards. Sterling
Shepard caught 5 passes for 54 yards. Brandon Marshall caught 6 passes for
46 yards. Rhett Ellison caught 2 passes for 11 yards and 1 TD. Jason
Pierre-Paul and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie each had .5 sacks. Aldrick
Rosas kicked a 30 yard field goal, and missed on a 43 yard attempt. "The
Giants got off to another slow start today. There was some bad run tackling and
then Eli Apple let Mike Evans get past him in the endzone for Tampa Bay's first
touchdown. Then O.J. Howard flew past everyone in the secondary, and his catch
went for a 58-yard touchdown. Thanks to the Bucs missing an extra point attempt,
the Giants found themselves down 13-0 at the end of the first quarter. In the
second quarter the Giants found themselves at their own 36 yard line as Tampa
Bay's kicker missed on a field goal. They got themselves down to a 4th-1 at the
Bucs 12 yard line. Ben McAdoo had Aldrick Rosas kick a 30-yard field goal for
the Giants first points in the game. After the Bucs went three and out. Odell
Beckham Jr. got hurt on the Giants next drive. It was hard to watch him on the
sidelines with a dislocated finger being 'repaired'. Then Eli Manning went all
out to show how much he wanted to win this game. He was looking for an open receiver
and then took off on a 14-yard touchdown run that cut the Bucs lead to 13-10. Tampa
Bay tried to come right back and they had what looked to be a 32 yard touchdown
catch by Mike Evans. It was ruled that way, but on review was overturned. Thank
Landon Collins for stopping him just short. The Giants defense toughened and after
three plays, the Bucs settled for a field goal, and at the end of the half the
score was 16-10 in favor of Tampa Bay, The Buccaneers missed on a 49-yard field
goal on their first possession, and the only scoring in the third quarter came
when Wayne Gallman caught a 4 yard touchdown pass. Once again Manning was looking
over the field, and the Bucs weren't covering the rookie running back playing
in his first game. The Giants took the lead 17-16 and tried to add to it early
in the fourth quarter, but Rosas 43-yard field goal attempt was no good. The Bucs
were the next to score and failed on their two point conversion, but then had
a 22-17 lead. Beckham had returned in the third quarter and caught a 42 yard
pass from Manning, but he got hurt once again and it looked to be his leg. Then
after some nice catches by Evan Engram and Beckham, and runs by Gallman, this
time it was Rhett Ellison crossing into the endzone with a 2 yard touchdown catch.
The Giants also failed on their two point conversion which was big, because they
would have had a three point lead instead of being up by one point at 23-22. The
defense let the Bucs get into field goal range, and this time their kicker was
able to make the 34 yarder for the winning 25-23 score. This loss puts the Giants
at 0-4 and makes you wonder if they can figure it out before playing the Chargers
at home next week."
"After
the first three games the Giants showed everyone that they get off to slow starts,
can't run the ball, and they can't stop others from running it on them. The Giants
came into this game with hopes of changing all that, but it didn't happen. They
were coming off a nice fourth quarter 24 point offense from the Eagles game, but
once again scored none in the first quarter for their fourth straight game. The
offense had only one field goal going for them in the second quarter until Eli
Manning ran 14 yards for a touchdown in the closing minutes of the half. How
much of that was really good offense by the Giants or just very bad coverage by
Tampa Bay? You can think on it while you check out Manning's history of running
with the ball. Manning scrambled two other times in the game. His last one right
at the start of the fourth quarter was for six yards when he couldn't find an
open receiver on third down. That shortened the field goal attempt to 43 yards,
but Aldrick Rosas couldn't make it happen as he missed for the first time this
season. Manning's 22 yards running brought the team total up to 91 yards. Wayne
Gallman accounted for 42 yards, and he caught two passes including one for the
Giants first passing touchdown in the third quarter. That put the Giants ahead
by one point to finally take the lead. After Tampa Bay scored, Manning once again
put the Giants up by one with his touchdown pass to tight end Rhett Ellison. There
was just 3:16 left, but this wasn't the 2016 Giants defense on the field. Tampa
Bay didn't even face a third down as they marched down the field until they hit
the Giants 39-yard line. The Bucs needed one yard for a first down and instead
got 26 when quarterback Jameis Winston completed a pass to Cameron Brate. The
next third down they faced was at the Giants 13-yard line, and Nick Folk kicked
a 34 yard field goal to win the game. Right now with the Giants record at 0-4,
you'd have to think that they would have to win at least nine of the next twelve
games in order to have a chance at making the playoffs. With the defense giving
up yardage on the ground - 111 yards today, with the Bucs lead running back Doug
Martin not playing, things don't look good in that area. They gave up three touchdown
passes with just one sack on Winston throwing the ball 38 times. Things are not
looking good as they get ready to face the Chargers."

Eli Manning's rushing touchdown was the sixth of his career. Eli
Manning threw a season-high 49 passes, completing 30 for 288 yards, two touchdowns,
and had no interceptions. Giants
lost for the second week in a row to the opposition scoring the game-winning points
