"Sure, this was a lot different that that game last week. There was a pretty good crowd and they were really into it for a preseason game, but it helps a lot to have the Giants playing the way they did."

And by "playing the way they did", you mean?
"There was decent pressure on Brunell. The Giants came away with 3 sacks, and the offense was able to move the ball. Collins was completing passes and Ron Dayne looked good, and that was something you definitely wanted to see. I mean I saw him take a pitch-back and it actually worked! Ron got 7 yards on that play and picked up a first down. That wasn't happening last year. Everything was working for them in this game."

How about the second stringers?
"I have to admit I heard a lot of names called that I didn't recognize. There was a lot of hustle on the field, even with the crowd slipping away. Things seemed to slow down, and I stayed longer than I would have, mostly for you guys."

Anything else?
"Not really except it's nice to see the offense go out there and come up with points."

What did you think Mikefan?
"We need to play Jacksonville more often. Actually, putting things in perspective, this is preseason, training and practice sessions the way it goes, and Patriots were ahead of us last week, and the Giants were ahead of the Jaguars this week. That's all."

That's all you can say about the Giants winning their first preseason game?
"I think the coaches got to see the things they were looking for. Kerry Collins woke up on the right side of the bed. They got a chance right away to see Holmes kick a field goal, and Jessie Palmer was a bright spot. Ron Dayne looked good, and Joe Jurevicius had a good game once he warmed up a bit. There's not much to complain about this game."

What do you mean about Collins and the "right side of the bed"?
"I'm starting to think that Collins, who is a great talent, either has it or not. If Kerry doesn't start off right, you might as well sit him for the game. He's sharp or he's not. Luckily, he's sharp most every game, but I haven't seen him turn things around when he gets off to a weak start. I wonder if anyone else agrees with me on this?"

We'll have to see how that plays out this year.
"Maybe they already suspect it, and that's why they drafted Jessie Palmer who looks really good, not to take away from Garrett who is always consistent off the bench. Cedric Scott, the Giants fourth round draft pick, filled in nicely for Kenny Holmes who was out for this game. Rodney Williams' punt was blocked and the announcers alluded to the fact that there could be a timing problem. That's the kind of thing you like to find out in the preseason."

Anything else?
"I was starting to feel bad for Jaguars coach Tom Coughlin. I think that when they put in the second stringer players, they should come up with a second string head coach, just to preserve the life span of the head coach."
