Sun Oct
22, the Giants take a break - What to do?
The
World Series.
Don't
tell me the NFL doesn't plan things well. As if
they didn't know there would be a subway series
between the NY Mets and the NY Yankees. The World
series starts on Oct 21 and the NFL scheduled a
bye week way ahead of time for the Giants. Also,
instead of the Jets playing on Sunday, they're scheduled
to go up against Miami on the Monday night game,
a day when the World Series contenders break for
a day. As if they didn't know what they were doing
when they left Oct 22 free for NY / NJ area residents
to enjoy the World Series.
The
Superbowl.
We
don't want any Jets or Giants fans too excited,
but you'll note that they're not playing any baseball
games around Superbowl time. Is that just a coincidence
because usually there is no winter baseball, or
are the baseball schedule makers making room for
a Giants - Jets subway-series Superbowl? The game
would be played in Tampa Bay no matter what, but
would still be considered a subway-superbowl. You
figure it out for yourself.
Those
other NFC East teams.
Depending
where you live, and what kind of TV you sign up
for, you might be able to catch one of the NFC East
games on FOX.
Most important from a Giants standpoint, would be
the Washington Redskins (5-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars
(2-5) game at 4PM. The Jaguars have lost four straight
games, while the Redskins seem to be putting it
all together, having won their last four in a row.
A Redskin win puts them in first place in the NFC
East above everyone, since the Giants won't be able
to match them game for game until the Redskins get
their bye week on November 12. The Giants play the
Redskins next on December 3 at FedEx Field.
The
Chicago Bears (1-6) play the Philadelphia Eagles
(4-3) at Veterans Stadium at 1PM. The Eagles are
one game behind the Washington Redskins and New
York Giants in the NFC East. A win would put them
at five like the Giants and Redskins, but the Eagles
would still have three losses compared to the other
teams two.
The
Arizona Cardinals (2-4) play the Dallas Cowboys
(2-4) at Texas Stadium at 1PM. These two division
teams are tied for last place in the NFC East. After
this game, one of them will have the basement all
to itself.
Games
on TV, Radio, and the Internet.
We
get a number of emails from non-local Giants fans,
and fans on the move who want to catch the game
anyway they can. In case you're not aware, we set
up this link a while ago and we keep it updated:
