Giants 2003 Preseason Schedule

The National Football League announced that the Giants preseason opener against the Patriots in New England will be played on Thursday night, Aug. 7, and will be televised nationally by ESPN at 8 p.m. The Giants remaining three preseason games are at home against Carolina and the Jets, and the finale is at Baltimore. (Times are subject to change.)
The Giants offseason program runs from March 24 through June 19:
Coach Jim Fassel generally is understanding about excusing players for personal commitments, and attendance has been near 100 percent. He frowns upon players who don't participate. Players can attend any of three sessions, which last about 40 minutes four days a week.
The focus since Fassel and strength coach John Dunn arrived in 1997 has been on relatively short, intense workouts that better prepare players for football conditions than longer, more traditional sessions. Monday and Wednesday are weightlifting days, Tuesday is treadmill running, and Thursday is running in the practice bubble. Players will also work with a speed coach.
The Giants report to training camp at the University at Albany on Thursday, July 24. The first practice session of training camp will be on Friday, July 25. NFL rules say they can report 15 days prior to the first preseason game, which would be Wednesday the 23rd. But Fassel said he might not change the reporting date. "I'm weighing that right now, but I don't think I'm going to change it much."
