We asked Gamegirl for her take on the game.
"It was really something, even though it was preseason.
The Giants offense took the field like they owned it and that's something we're not used to seeing around here.
For the past few years the defensive unit has been carrying the team and it's been an almost impossible task for them without any kind of support from their offense.
Now it almost looks like the two units are in competition with each other, striving to do the better job."

Gamegirl was obviously very pleased.
"Yes I'm happy. I mean I know that Minnesota Head Coach Dennis Green didn't alter his plans throughout the game and try to go all out and win. He swapped his players out and kept to his schedule, but the exciting part is that the way things looked, he wouldn't have been able to win anyway.
Cory Miller made some plays against the Giants and it was great to see him back in uniform even if it was against us.
I did feel bad for Jason Sehorn pacing the sidelines."

We asked if she had any win - loss predictions for the season.
"You guys know I never jump the gun. Let's just wait a few more preseason games, and you'll be the first to hear."

Of course Mikefan was eager to talk to us.
"The Giants sent a message to the NFL that started with their opening drive against Minnesota tonight and will hopefully continue throughout the season.

I'll have to go along with Gamegirl on some of her comments.
When our defensive unit gets beat on a play, you can really see and feel that they take it as an insult.
It's as though the last play was not allowed to happen and they just go at it with more intensity. You never see those guys looking beaten down no matter what. They have real "attitude".

Now the offensive unit is challenging these guys, both in scrimmage games and on the preseason field, and it's like each group wants to be the one cited for taking this team to higher levels.
Last year the defense barely got off the field and the had to get back on. In today's game that happened a bunch of times, but it was because they put points on the board so fast!"

Even without Coach Fassel, they looked really prepared.
"Yes, you can't say enough about Jim Fassel for building this team up to where it is now. The Giants are definitely ready to hit the field running (and passing) when the season starts.

I mean, Minnesota went 15-1 and won the NFC Central title last season and had very little to change in preseason.
You think about that, and remember about the Denver win the Giants pulled off at the end of last year and you start to feel real good about where this team can go this year."

How about the Quarterback thing?
"Once again Coach Fassel gets awards for keeping things together on the team. The players aren't spit on Kent Graham or Kerry Collins. Kent picked up right where he left off last year, and that means being an effective starting QB.
He's great with the fake pumps, uses the pocket well and is always in control.
Collins looked a little less sharp and had some trouble with the clock, but still both QBs are top notch.
Kent Grahams stats for the game were 5-6-0 for 145 yds, and Kerry Collins was 8-17-0 for 127 yds."

Got anything else for us?
"Sean Bennett did a great job. He was 10-35 yds running, and also caught 2 for 65 yds, and then left suffering from a minor concussion.
Greg Comella was the workhorse after that with 17 carries for 28 yds, and 1 pass for 13 yds.
Tiki Barber carried 5 and got 24 yds.
Joe Jurevicius caught 2 for 60 yds, David Patten 2 for 50 yds, Amani Toomer had 2 for 37 yds, Dan Campbell 2 for 20 yards.

I thought I'd see more of Ike Hilliard and Pete Mitchell but they only had one catch each.
I'm not complaining though. The football got to a lot of different players tonight and total yard passing was 272 for the Giants against 191 for Minnesota.
The Giants also recorded 9 sacks and the Vikings had none.
The Giants had 9 penalties and the Vikings had 21.
The Giants 3rd-Down Efficiency was 5-12."

Did he have any win - loss predictions for the season?
"Yes, I'm already down for 11- 5, and 12 - 4 is not impossible."
