Next week - Arizona:
What are they saying about the
Giants? Click
here to find out.
Gamegirl was sick,
so we got her phoned in interview.
We're not sure if she was sick previously , or if it was the
game that made her sick.
"I'm really not feeling well, so this will be short.
It was a nasty day to be sitting there rooting for the Giants
for more reasons than one. We were all kind of disappointed."
"You keep hoping week after week that something will
change, that they will find the right answer, the right series
of plays or strategy or something that will suddenly turn
it all around and that we'll finally see some things click
in for the offense.
Next week I'm bringing my young nephew to the game. He's very
excited and knowledgeable, and I sometimes think he knows
more about what's going on than the guys on the field. The
Giants have to really worry about winning this game against
Arizona.
It's the last one before the bye week and they really need
something to build on. They just can't keep going on this
way. It makes you want for the good old days when they played
well and lost. They at least played well."
That was it for Gamegirl. Her voice was getting raspy and
low. Hopefully she and the Giants will be fully recovered
for next week.
For the second
week in a row, we just let Mikefan go full steam. It's usually
not good news when that happens.
"What does it mean when Dan Reeves puts Steve DeBerg,
the oldest QB in football, in the game against your team?
It means that the game is over, that half your fans won't
even notice because they've probably already left, and he
is having mercy on your pathetic team.
Kind soul that he is, the ex-giants coach had Steve DeBerg
make an appearance against the Giants yesterday as they went
down for their fourth loss of the season, and slipped another
notch lower in the NFC East standings."
"It was the same old stuff for the Giants this game.
No offense at all, and the defense is out there most of the
game until they finally cave. Not having some of the regulars
in the defensive lineup, out due to various injuries, cost
us a bit more points than usual this week, but the end result
would have been the same except by a closer score.
The stats were as bad as usual, and would have been even worse
except the Falcons had their fill, and they let the Giants
run up the score and run down the clock in the last six minutes
of the game."
"Kent Graham was out there at this point, having a grand
old time, hustling and playing like he was Randall Cunningham
as he ducked and rushed for some yardage and managed a meaningless
75 yard drive against an uncaring Falcon defense, to bring
the score up from a crummy 34-13 to a semi-crummy 34-20.
Thanks to that gift of 75 yards, and the added 41 yards on
the last non scoring drive of the final 2 minutes, the Giants
finished with a total of 266 offensive yards."
"Once again, it's sort of a mystery as to why the offense
isn't working. There were problems last year, but new offensive
tools are in play this year. Ike Hilliard can really catch,
Chris Calloway is as sharp as ever, but not a lot seems to
get tossed their way. Why waste them by having them go downfield
play after play?
Maybe
all the wide receivers should be converted to tight ends,
criss crossing back and forth right in front of Danny Kanell.
Occasionally we can keep them back as extra blockers for the
running game to get that going.
Now we're talking football!"
Mikefan was done with his game wrapup, and just for the record,
please make sure any angry responses get marked with his address,
not ours.
